VARS, XLVAR

Syntax: |
VARS(argumentlist) |

XLVAR(argumentlist) |

*argumentlist* = any combination of numbers, cells, or ranges

**VARS** returns the sample variance (N-1 weighting) of its
arguments. Blank cells and cells containing strings are
not counted. The formula is given by:

**XLVAR** is a synonym for **VARS**.

**Examples:**

**VARS**(1, 2, 7) = 10.333333

**VARS**(Y1..Y5) = 84.7, where Y1..Y5 = 22, 24, 29, 34, and 45

**XLVAR**(K6..K10) = 0.62603, where K6..K10 = 1, .33, 0,
-0.66, and -0.99

**VAR**(K6:K10) = 0.62603, where K6:K10 = 1, .33, 0,
-0.66, and -0.99
(in Excel compatibility mode)

**Excel function:** **XLVAR** is compatible with Excel's **VAR**
(In Excel compatibility mode, the ``XL'' prefix is not used.)
