TRUNC

**Syntax:** **TRUNC( X[, N])**

*X* = a number whose value is to be truncated

*N* = number of digits to which to truncate *X* (optional)

Returns the value *X* truncated to *N* decimal places.
If *N* is omitted, it is assumed to be 0.

**Examples:**

**TRUNC**(3.14159, 2) = 3.14

**TRUNC**(3.14159) = 3

**TRUNC**(-3.14159, 2) = -3.14

**TRUNC**(17.894) = 17
